Portrait of a Friend

This is a photo of my friend Nicole. I know that this picture is very saturated, but her pose is quite simple. I wanted a way to bring out her personality, and I found that through the colors in the picture. Nicole's personality is far from simple. She is vibrant and funny, which is shown through the colors. However, she is laid back and has a relaxed attitude which i think is shown in her pose, even the way her hair is laying. Lastly, she is a kind, caring person, and always helps others over herself, and I feel that is seen in her smile.

Portrait of a Stranger

This is Emily, and this photograph was taken in Mellon. I like how she has a slight smile. It adds a sense of mystery to the photo. And she is the only focus in the photo. Being placed against bare walls allows the viewer not to be distracted by other things.

Self-Portrait

This is my self-portrait. There was little editing done, simply just changing a bit of the lighting. I wanted people to see me, simple as that. So, in the photo I am wearing jeans and a hoodie, because that is what you will usually find me wearing. More importantly, I am smiling. I feel like laughing is a big part of who I am because I am doing it constantly. From when we first learned about the project I felt it absolutely necessary to be able to capture that.

Landscapes

The photo to the left is of the Cathedral of Learning at University of Pitt. I feel that this pictures gives a view of classical archtitecture and it captures the importance of detail in the building.

This is a picture taken of downtown Pittsburgh from campus. It gives an idea of what it's like to live in the heart of this city.

Below is a picture of the 10th Street Bridge at sunset on one of the few days we see clear skies and sunshine. Lastly, is the photo of the bikes. I really like this picture because the main focus is on the bikes in the front of the photograph, but captured in the background are multitude of buildings at University of Pittsburgh's campus.

The Bad Photo

I really don't like this photo because it was blurry. Nothing in the photo really came out. It would have been cool if my friend was in focus and the lights behind him were as they are in the picture. I definitely needed to readjust the settings to make the picture more clear.

The Good Photo

I really like this because i was able to focus the front leaf while blurring the back image. I was successfully able to utilize what we learned in class last week, so I was excited when I got the picture to come out. Also the color is really rich and brought out in this picture.

First photo post

This is a photo that I took in Rio on the beaches of Ipanema, when I visited Brazil this past summer. It doesn't capture the major monuments of the area but I feel that it encompasses the landscape of the Rio. The photo shows the beach line along with the mountains in the background. And focuses on the cacti and plant life at the front of the photo.
